New study shows that walnuts may protect against heart disease. Not only that, in Chinese Medicine, Hu tao ren (walnuts) are a famous Yang tonic, offering protection and strength to our brain, low back and knees. Plus, being a nut, they moisten the intestines. Just remember – it looks like a brain, and it’s good FOR the brain. Now, with this study, it seems it is also good for the heart!
One of my favorite treats is my Trail Mix Tonic – Walnuts, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate chips (70% or more), and goji berries! This mix got me through many classes when I couldn’t take a break for a meal and is delicious!
